The Server position at Denny's is a vital role focused on delivering excellent customer service from the moment guests arrive until their departure. Reporting directly to the General Manager and Restaurant Manager, the Server is responsible for greeting and seating guests in a warm and courteous manner, accurately taking and delivering orders, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
Servers assist guests with menu selections and suggestively sell additional items to help maximize guest check averages. They must be knowledgeable about the entire menu, including appetizers, salads, beverages, desserts, and daily specials. The Server also prepares some beverage orders and ensures that food and beverages are delivered promptly and presented properly according to company standards. Handling payments, including cash and credit card transactions, is an essential part of the role, requiring adherence to safety and accuracy policies.
In addition to guest service duties, the Server maintains cleanliness and organization within the dining and service areas and completes assigned side-work, including deep cleaning tasks. Servers need to be physically capable of standing and walking for extended shifts, lifting trays and supplies, and being attentive to the work environment for safety. They are also expected to address guest concerns tactfully and escalate issues to management when necessary.
This position demands flexibility in work hours, including availability on nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet operational needs. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs
- must be able to raise a tray weighing up to 25 lbs to shoulder height
- able to bend, stoop, reach, wipe, lift, and grab
- sufficient mobility to move and operate in work area
- must be able to stand and walk throughout a 4 to 8 hour shift
- must be able to hear well in a loud environment
- must meet all state, county or municipal food handling regulations
- must be able to observe and differentiate between monetary denominations
- must be able to serve all Denny's menu products
- must be able to operate point of sale system
- must be able to work around potentially hazardous chemicals
- must be able to pass all required tests and training requirements
- must be dependable and able to learn basic tasks
- must comply with company arbitration agreement
- must meet health risk concerns about food handling
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing

Job Duties
- Greet and seat guests promptly and courteously
- take and deliver food and beverage orders accurately

- check orders for completeness and presentation
- attend to guests throughout dining experience

- pre-bus, clear, clean, and preset tables
- address guest complaints and requests promptly
- maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room and service area
- complete all required side-work including deep cleaning assignments
- assist team members willingly
