The Server role at Denny's is pivotal in delivering a memorable dining experience to guests. Reporting directly to the General Manager and Restaurant Manager, the Server is responsible for greeting, seating, and servicing guests in a courteous and friendly manner. This role demands a high level of guest interaction, requiring excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a keen understanding of the menu offerings. Servers at Denny's not only take and deliver orders but also suggestively sell menu items to enhance guest satisfaction and meet sales targets. Accuracy in order entry using the point of sale system is critical, alongside the ability to prepare and serve beverages, appetizers, salads, and desserts.

Job Requirements

Must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in the work area
Must be able to stand and walk throughout a 4 to 8 hour shift
Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs
Ability to raise a tray weighing up to 25 lbs to shoulder height
Able to bend, stoop, reach, wipe, lift, and grab
Must be able to hear well in a loud environment
Must meet any state, county or municipal regulations pertaining to health risks about food handling
Must be able to observe and differentiate between monetary denominations
Must be able to serve all Denny's menu products
Must be able to operate point of sale system
Must be able to work around potentially hazardous chemicals

Job Duties

Greet guests immediately upon arrival and acknowledge them at departure
Assist with guest seating using proper arrival order and rotation procedures
Suggestively sell menu items to achieve guest check average targets
Accurately enter orders on the point of sale system
Prepare beverage orders and some appetizers, salads, and desserts
Deliver food and beverage orders timely and according to standards
Attend to guests throughout their dining experience in a prompt and courteous manner
Address complaints and requests promptly and courteously
Pre-bus tables, clear, clean and preset tables promptly
Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room and service area
Adhere to Denny's brand standards and internal policies
