This particular position is a full-time, non-management role within the Food and Beverage & Culinary department. The role focuses on preparing and cooking food items according to set recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines, ensuring every dish meets the hotel's exceptional standards. Responsibilities include regulating cooking temperatures, thawing and storing ingredients properly, monitoring food quantity and quality, and maintaining orderly food logs. The role also involves effective communication with both kitchen staff and food service teams, particularly regarding menu specials, substitutions, and inventory. This position is vital to maintaining the high standards of food preparation that The Ritz-Carlton is known for.
In addition to the culinary duties, the role demands adherence to company safety, security, and aesthetic policies to protect both staff and guests. Candidates will assist management by contributing to the overall positive work environment through teamwork, communication, and upholding professionalism. Physical requirements include standing or walking for extended durations and handling food items weighing up to 25 pounds. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 years of related work experience
- Ability to regulate cooking equipment temperatures
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 pounds
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to adhere to company safety and security policies
- Willingness to maintain professional appearance and behavior
Job Qualifications
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree
- At least 3 years of related work experience
- No supervisory experience
- Ability to follow all company and safety policies
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
Job Duties
- Prepare special meals or substitute items
- Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
- Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator
- Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish
- Maintain food logs
- Monitor the quality and quantity of food that is prepared
- Communicate assistance needed during busy periods
