Job Description
Queen's Medical Center (QMC) is a leading healthcare institution in Hawai'i, committed to providing exceptional medical services with a strong focus on the well-being of Native Hawaiians and all the people of Hawai'i. Founded with the mission to honor the legacy of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, QMC delivers quality health care services that span a broad spectrum, including specialized patient care, medical research, and community outreach. As one of the most respected hospitals in the region, QMC prides itself on embodying core values such as compassion, aloha, respect, understanding, and a steadfast pursuit of excellence. These foundational principles nurture their dedication to superior patient outcomes and inclusive community health, positioning the medical center not only as a healthcare provider but also as a vital pillar in the community it serves.
The Patient Services and Dietary department at Queen's Medical Center is integral to the hospital's commitment to patient care and recovery. This department manages the food and beverage services for patients and catering needs for various groups within and outside the hospital. The role involves preparing, presenting, and delivering nutritious meals directly to patients’ rooms, ensuring dietary specifications are meticulously followed to support individuals’ health and recovery processes. Team members work shifts ranging from 6 to 8 hours and play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service combined with nutritional awareness. This position is perfect for individuals eager to contribute to patient well-being through food service, working collaboratively in a fast-paced, health-focused environment. Training is provided, making this an excellent opportunity for those seeking entry into healthcare support roles or those wanting to advance their careers through direct involvement in a hospital’s dietary and catering services.
This role specifically includes responsibilities such as transporting food and supplies between Queen's Medical Center’s Manamana campus and various offsite locations, performing meal service duties which encompass meal assembly and serving, collecting trays efficiently, as well as handling dish room tasks to maintain cleanliness and sanitation. The physical demands of the position require standing, walking, occasional climbing, and handling weights up to 50 pounds, along with using finger dexterity and repetitive hand motions. While the workplace environment is generally safe, workers may be exposed to environmental variations, chemicals, odors, and hazardous materials, and must be comfortable operating fleet vehicles in adherence to safety policies.
Overall, this role at Queen’s Medical Center offers a meaningful chance to engage in healthcare support services that directly affect patient engagement and recovery, making it a rewarding career path in the health services sector. As an equal opportunity employer, QMC fosters an inclusive workplace fostering diversity and equal employment opportunities for all qualified applicants, including individuals with disabilities and veterans.
