Job Description
Cardinal Health is a renowned healthcare services and products company committed to enhancing the delivery of healthcare by providing essential medical products and solutions across the globe. The company operates in several sectors, including pharmaceutical distribution, nuclear pharmacy, and medical product manufacturing. Cardinal Health's Nuclear Pharmacy division plays a critical role in supplying radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to healthcare providers. These radiopharmaceuticals are vital for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic treatments, and the division ensures their safe handling, adherence to strict regulatory standards, and timely delivery under both State and Federal guidelines.
This position is for a Pharmacy Delivery Driver Associate within Cardinal Health's Pharmacy Services & Delivery unit, which is responsible for the distribution of radiopharmaceuticals and oncology pharmaceuticals. The role involves preparing doses for shipment, accurately delivering these medications using a company vehicle, and ensuring compliance with safety and transportation regulations. Work schedules typically require 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, with shifts from either 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional requirements to work holidays, be on call, or adjust hours based on business needs. The flexible nature of this role demands an individual who is adaptable and committed to providing reliable service.
The delivery driver associate is responsible for not only transporting and delivering critical medications but also for performing essential tasks such as packaging medications according to safety standards, scanning customer orders for accuracy using handheld digital devices, processing returns, and maintaining the delivery vehicle. The job also includes minor vehicle repairs and general maintenance duties within the facility. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong customer service skills and the ability to operate vehicles safely under various weather and traffic conditions.
The role requires a candidate with at least a high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience, to have a valid driver's license, and to be comfortable working in a highly regulated nuclear pharmacy environment. Candidates must also be capable of lifting weights up to 75 pounds, as well as sitting, standing, and driving for extended periods. Given the nature of the medications involved, the role demands strict adherence to regulatory and safety protocols, the ability to learn and apply new procedures, and maintain compliance with state and federal laws.
At Cardinal Health, employees benefit from a comprehensive range of benefits designed to support health, wellness, and work-life balance. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, health savings accounts, 401(k) plans, flexible spending accounts, disability coverage, and programs promoting healthy lifestyles and parental leave. This role does not include a bonus but offers a competitive hourly wage that provides a stable and rewarding work environment.
Cardinal Health promotes a diverse and inclusive workplace where employees are valued for their unique perspectives and backgrounds. The company encourages candidates from all walks of life, including those without a college degree, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those re-entering the workforce, to apply. The organization's commitment to equal opportunity ensures fair consideration for all qualified applicants without discrimination.
This job opportunity is an excellent fit for individuals seeking a stable, responsible position within the healthcare delivery sector. It offers the chance to contribute to patient care by ensuring critical medications reach medical facilities safely and on time. The role is designed for candidates who are dependable, flexible, and eager to work in a dynamic environment that requires attention to detail, courtesy, and professionalism in their interactions with customers and coworkers. Cardinal Health values employees who can manage the physical demands of the job while upholding the company’s high standards for safety and quality.
