The Delivery Driver role at Atlantic Tire Distributors is a key operational position responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and pickup of tires using light vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight below 26,000 pounds. This position requires an individual who can confidently operate delivery trucks or vans, perform vehicle inspections, and handle loading and unloading responsibilities. The role demands strict adherence to traffic laws and company policies, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to customer service. This job offers a competitive starting pay range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on experience. The driver will be expected to conduct vehicle maintenance checks, maintain accurate delivery documentation, and verify inventory loads to ensure quality control. In this role, the driver works closely with warehouse teams and management, requiring the ability to manage time efficiently and handle physical tasks such as lifting and moving material weighing up to and over 100 pounds regularly.
Being successful in this role also means exemplifying work styles such as dependability, integrity, cooperation, and attention to detail while navigating various work environments, which may include exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and weather conditions. The position requires physical stamina, including the capability to lift heavy items and perform physically demanding tasks frequently. This role also allows for some independence in daily work operations while requiring responsiveness to team support and customer needs. Job Duties
- obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
- inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition
- report on any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles
- properly document goods delivered or loaded
- load and unload trucks
- verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
- maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations
- read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions
- report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles using telephones or mobile two-way radios
