Job Description
Ben E. Keith Company is a well-established leader in the distribution of fine food and premium beverages, with an impressive history spanning over a century since its founding in 1906. As a prominent family-owned business, Ben E. Keith has built its reputation on consistently exceeding customer expectations by providing high-quality products and outstanding service. The company operates through two main divisions: the Food Division, known for being a complete broad-line distributor across multiple states, and the Beverage Division, which proudly distributes renowned brands including Anheuser-Busch products, craft and import beers, spirits, and wines throughout Texas. Ben E. Keith’s commitment to growth not only includes expanding its business footprint but also fostering the development and success of its employees and customers, demonstrating a deep-rooted dedication to quality and community values.
This particular role is a targeted position within Ben E. Keith’s transportation operations, focusing on route delivery and logistics. The position requires a professional driver responsible for performing product deliveries along assigned routes and ensuring customer satisfaction by providing timely and accurate service. The responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks including inspecting and maintaining vehicle equipment to guarantee safe operation, assembling orders meticulously to match delivery windows, placing products in customer-designated storage locations, and maintaining product integrity to avoid damage during handling or transport.
Candidates for this role must be adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously, including following geographic directions and maps, communicating any issues promptly to supervisors, and complying with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as well as company policies. Compliance with traffic laws and industry safety standards is paramount. This role also requires attention to administrative duties such as paperwork associated with deliveries, invoice verification, and maintaining records including vehicle logs and billing statements to ensure operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be physically capable of handling the physical demands of the role, including repetitive lifting of weights over 50 pounds and occasional lifting above 100 pounds, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, as well as being able to walk extensively and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and squatting. Additionally, the driver must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have the ability to understand and enforce regulatory guidelines, use Microsoft Office and other proprietary software tools, and demonstrate problem-solving abilities coupled with a strong customer-focused approach.
Driver safety is emphasized through the use of AI-powered dash cameras that monitor safe driving behaviors and help improve overall safety performance. This technological integration serves to protect both the driver and the company while supporting a culture of safety and accountability.
Ben E. Keith places value on an inclusive and diverse workforce, committed to equal employment opportunities. The company supports its employees through competitive and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, 401K matching, profit-sharing plans, wellness programs, paid time off, and educational assistance. Employees are empowered to contribute to a respectful and innovative workplace where their input can positively impact company decisions and overall business success. This role presents a unique opportunity for dedicated individuals who want to join a historic company that values integrity, diversity, and excellence in service.
