The Delivery Specialist role plays a crucial part in the customer experience at Tractor Supply and Petsense by Tractor Supply. The individual in this position is responsible for delivering purchased merchandise to customers within the designated market while adhering to stringent delivery schedules and quality standards. Beyond mere transportation of goods, the Delivery Specialist is expected to embody the company's commitment to a Legendary Customer Experience by building trusted relationships, offering knowledgeable advice regarding products, and ensuring the safe delivery of items. The role does not only involve delivering merchandise but also handling product returns and resolving customer issues efficiently and professionally. This position requires the specialist to maintain regular and predictable attendance, ensuring that all deliveries are made timely and meet or exceed scheduled times. The specialist must keep their delivery vehicle and equipment clean, organized, and well-maintained, including trailers as necessary.

Operational duties include loading, unloading, and organizing products carefully and efficiently, performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to guarantee safety, and maintaining accurate delivery records. Customer communication is also a key component, with need to provide updates and address concerns promptly and courteously. Partnership with field sales teams and store personnel enhances the ability to meet customer needs fully. The role demands compliance with traffic laws and company policies to ensure safety during driving and delivery operations. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy active, hands-on work, have strong interpersonal skills, and take pride in delivering excellent customer service.

This is a professional position requiring a minimum high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and at least three years of driving experience. Candidates must also meet medical and motor vehicle record (MVR) check requirements. Experience operating hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts is preferred but not mandatory. Physical stamina and the ability to safely handle and move heavy merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper equipment are essential. The candidate must be adept at using Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Calendar and able to navigate using GPS and maps to ensure timely deliveries. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Working conditions include operating near mechanical equipment and providing deliveries in varying weather and road situations. The physical demands involve sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting over 50 pounds, driving, and reaching overhead. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Have at least 3 years of driving experience
  • Meet MVR check requirements
  • Possess the physical and mental stamina and ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment
  • Ability to lift and move large, bulky and or heavy merchandise
  • Ability to safely load and unload a delivery truck
  • Follow all traffic laws and company policies
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Operate all equipment efficiently, safely, properly, and accurately

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous truck delivery experience is a plus but not required
  • Experience with hand truck, dolly, pallet jack and forklift preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Calendar

Job Duties

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Ensure timely deliveries, meeting or exceeding scheduled delivery times
  • Operate and maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle and delivery equipment including a trailer at times
  • Load, unload, and organize products in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the safety and readiness of the delivery vehicle
  • Maintain an accurate record of deliveries and any issues that may arise
  • Communicate with customers as necessary, providing updates or addressing any concerns during the delivery process
  • Provide exceptional customer service, creating a positive and friendly experience for all customers
  • Partner with field sales team and store personnel to satisfy needs of our customers
  • Handle all products with care to avoid damage and ensure safe transport
  • Follow all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safe driving practices
  • Handle returns, exchanges, or customer inquiries as needed
