The role of a Local Delivery Driver Class A with Hazmat at the Tyler, TX location is pivotal to maintaining the high standards that Airgas upholds. This is a full-time, day-shift position offering a competitive wage of $26 per hour accompanied by quarterly bonus potential. As a Service and Delivery Professional, you will be responsible for the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders using company-provided trucks. The responsibilities extend beyond driving to include meticulous management of cylinder flow and nurturing strong, lasting relationships with customers. This role demands attention to safety standards including Airgas’s SAFECOR protocols and compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FMCSA, and FDA regulations.

Job Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • One year of prior professional Class A or B driving experience in the last five years
  • No more than two convictions or at-fault accidents in the last three years according to specified limits
  • Diploma from accredited driving school and prior driving experience
  • Ability to lift heavy cylinders regularly
  • Comfortable with frequent bending and vehicle operation involving hazardous materials
  • Ability to work occasional overtime if needed
  • Maintain collaborative safety credentials for site access

Job Qualifications

  • Valid TX Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Card
  • Hazmat and Airbrake certifications
  • Minimum one year of Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five years or equivalent experience from an accredited driving school
  • Proficient in navigating and understanding material safety data sheets
  • Ability to lift 25 to 75 lbs routinely and occasionally over 125 lbs with equipment
  • Comfortable operating vehicles carrying hazardous cargo
  • Availability for occasional overtime
  • Ability to obtain and maintain safety credentials for customer site access
  • Preferred proficiency in operating heavy machinery such as forklifts or Moffett

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on load manifests and obtain customer signatures
  • Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them for refilling
  • Adhere to Airgas safety standards and government regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide warehouse and dock support as needed
