Job Description
Core-Mark is a leading distributor in the convenience retail industry dedicated to delivering fresh and broadline solutions to convenience stores throughout North America. As the largest marketer of consumer goods in the U.S. and Canada, Core-Mark stands out for its commitment to empowering customers, employees, and the communities it serves. The company has built a strong reputation by providing comprehensive programs, products, and solutions tailored to support convenience operators. Core-Mark’s culture emphasizes growth, safety, inclusivity, and respect, making it a preferred employer in the distribution sector.
The current opportunity is for a Commercial Driver role, vital to supporting America’s food distribution system. This full-time position offers a competitive pay structure beginning with $25.00 per hour during the training period. After training, drivers are compensated based on stops, loads, and miles driven, with many first-year drivers earning up to $85,000 annually. The schedule primarily runs Monday through Friday, starting at 2:00 AM, with shifts generally lasting between 10 to 12 hours.
In this role, drivers perform essential functions such as pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections to comply with Department of Transportation regulations, ensuring that tractors, trucks, and trailers meet company safety standards. Drivers are responsible for reporting any safety concerns or repair needs immediately. The position requires adherence to strict DOT regulations and company driving policies, along with ensuring all freight is properly loaded and secured before departure. Drivers will handle paperwork for their routes, perform hook and unhook procedures safely, and park and store equipment according to company protocols. Additional responsibilities include collecting and securing damaged goods or customer returns, unloading equipment, and maintaining cleanliness in trailers and loading dock areas.
The role also demands maintaining accurate records of hours of service in compliance with federal, state, and company requirements, as well as performing general housekeeping duties to keep the working environment safe and organized. Core-Mark values employees who bring a commitment to safety and professionalism, understanding the critical impact their work has on food distribution and customer satisfaction. The company fosters a culture of rewards and recognition in a diverse and inclusive environment where respect and growth opportunities are paramount.
Core-Mark offers an attractive benefits package including day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. With opportunities for advancement and a supportive workplace environment, this Commercial Driver position is an excellent match for individuals seeking a stable and rewarding career in distribution logistics.
