The role on offer is that of a Commercial Truck Driver, a crucial position within Core-Mark’s logistics framework. This role involves the safe and efficient delivery of goods, playing a key part in America’s food distribution system. The position offers competitive pay starting at $25.50 per hour, supplemented with Stop Cubic Mile bonuses discussed during the interview process. Working hours are Monday through Friday from 2:00 AM to 12:00 PM, providing a structured daytime schedule. Responsibilities for this Commercial Truck Driver position include conducting thorough safety checks on tractors, trucks, and trailers in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety standards. Drivers are expected to report any mechanical issues or repairs needed promptly. Compliance with all DOT rules and company safe driving policies is mandatory, alongside ensuring that freight loads are properly secured and routes are executed according to predetermined schedules.

Daily duties extend to handling essential paperwork and documentation accompanying each shipment, performing loading and unloading tasks, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the tractor and loading dock areas. The role also involves securing and transporting damaged goods and customer returns back to the base facility. Additional tasks include parking vehicles in designated areas, performing hook and unhook operations, and recording hours of service in adherence to regulatory requirements.

Candidates interested in this role must meet specific qualification criteria, including holding a valid CDL A with Doubles and Triples endorsements and possessing at least six months of commercial driving experience. A clean Motor Vehicle Report over the past three years, passing a road and pre-employment drug test, and holding or being able to obtain a valid DOT health card are required. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and meet all applicable state licensing or certification requirements. Physical capability to hand-lift and maneuver freight up to and between 60 to 90 pounds using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates throughout the shift is essential.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Valid CDL A with Doubles and Triples endorsement
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday –Thursday nights (schedules may vary)
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Ensures all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch
  • Drives and delivers trailers according to predetermined route schedule
