Located in Amarillo, TX, the Warehouse and Delivery Driver role at Border States plays a pivotal part in supporting the company’s day-to-day warehouse operations and delivery services. This role is dynamic and challenging as it requires managing the delivery of materials to various Border States branches and customer sites efficiently and safely. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining delivery vehicles in excellent condition, scheduling federally mandated DOT and state inspections, and ensuring compliance with all traffic and safety regulations. With an emphasis on exceptional customer service, this role also covers loading and unloading materials, maintaining daily logs and inspection reports, and assisting with warehouse functions such as order filling, stocking, processing returns, and shipping.

This position is ideally suited for individuals with experience in warehouse distribution and driving who are committed to excellence and safety. In addition to the operational responsibilities, the Warehouse and Delivery Driver is expected to maintain a clean and organized work environment while ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. This role requires physical activity such as lifting materials of varying weights, walking, standing, and other movements essential to warehouse and delivery functions.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles
  • current medical certification
  • clean driving record
  • ability to perform physical activities including lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and handle materials frequently
  • basic computer skills
  • compliance with local, state and federal traffic and safety regulations
  • ability to maintain daily logs and inspection reports
  • capability to load and unload materials
  • able to work in varied weather conditions
  • able to travel as required
  • ability to operate forklift and other warehouse equipment as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Two-years of work experience preferred
  • prior warehouse distribution experience including forklift operation and good knowledge of electrical products/systems is preferred
  • minimum of 21 years of age is required
  • valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles is required
  • current medical certification is required
  • clean driving record is essential
  • working knowledge of PC for Windows and internet
  • SAP software is a plus
  • ability to perform all aspects of the job as accurately and efficiently as possible while providing exceptional customer service
  • excellent interpersonal communication (reading, writing and speaking English)
  • ability to effectively plan and organize
  • excellent customer service skills include being competent, accurate, responsive and engaged

Job Duties

  • Provides delivery of material to Border States branches and customer sites based on business needs
  • maintains delivery vehicle in clean, good working condition and monitors maintenance and mileage data if required
  • provides for regular maintenance and cleaning of vehicles, as appropriate
  • schedules DOT/state mandated inspection visits, as required
  • maintains daily driver logs and vehicle inspection sheets
  • completes truck summary, driver’s log and other backup detail daily, pays truck expenses and updates appropriate records, as appropriate
  • must be observant and adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic and safety regulations
  • must have a full understanding of truck routes and may coordinate deliveries with our own trucks, assigned freight companies or other carriers based on special requests or the best way to ship material
  • loads and unloads material at the branch and customer locations
  • may perform warehouse functions including, but not limited to, order filling, stocking shelves, processing returns, receiving and shipping, as needed
  • performs/assists with other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor/manager
  • may be responsible for conducting Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) as part of their daily route
  • may check and pack material to be delivered
  • may maintain shipping equipment and keep work area clean and safe
  • may assist the City Desk and Will Call areas in providing customer service functions including, but not limited to, order entry, filling orders, processing returns, expediting, technical assistance, Will Call, and other functions, as needed
  • other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate
