Job Description

US FOODS is a premier foodservice distributor, known as one of the largest in the United States, committed to supplying quality foods and related products to a broad range of customers, from independently owned restaurants to multi-unit chains. With a rich history of promotion from within, US FOODS fosters a culture that emphasizes ongoing job skills and leadership development training, offering unlimited career growth opportunities. This well-established company is dedicated to maintaining a strong safety culture, supported by excellent local leadership to ensure employee success. The organization offers comprehensive benefits starting from day one, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), life insurance, and paid parental leave, among others.

The role of a CDL-A Delivery Truck Driver at US FOODS is crucial in making sure customers receive their orders efficiently and safely. These drivers begin with a competitive training base rate of $33.43 per hour. After the training period, compensation shifts to component pay based on the number of miles driven, cases delivered, and stops made, with guaranteed hourly pay during any downtime. This position involves delivering foodservice products locally, with routes that may include layover options, selected based on driver tenure. Drivers are equipped with route trailers featuring liftgates and powered pallet jacks, facilitating easier unloading of customer orders, which are pre-picked on plastic pallets.

Operating mostly during evening hours, with delivery routes starting between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM, drivers may work four- or five-day schedules with consecutive days off, along with opportunities for extra work on the 5th and 6th days that come with paid incentives. Drivers are responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, upholding safety and compliance standards. Physical demands of the job include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling 20 to over 80 pounds repeatedly throughout shifts, as well as comfortable operation under inclement weather conditions with frequent stops.

To join US FOODS as a Delivery Truck Driver, candidates must be registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, be at least 21 years old, and hold a valid CDL Class A license issued by their state of residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications. A minimum of six months commercial driving experience is required, with one year of foodservice driving experience preferred. Manual transmission operation skills may be necessary depending on location. Candidates must be able to read and communicate in English effectively to understand traffic signs, respond to inquiries, and maintain required documentation.

Compensation for this position ranges from $33.43 to $45.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, skills, and location. US FOODS provides a supportive and safe working environment where dedication and professional growth are rewarded. The company is also an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to diversity and inclusion across all aspects of its hiring practices.
