The role of a Delivery Truck Driver at US Foods is critical to the company's mission of ensuring timely and accurate delivery of food products to customers, thus helping them "Make It" in their respective businesses. These drivers not only operate trucks but also embody the company's dedication to customer service and operational excellence. The position offers a compensation range that reflects relevant experience, education, and skills, typically between $32.70 and $35.70 per hour, inclusive of overtime opportunities as applicable by law. Drivers benefit from health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, disability coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance, which collectively contribute to a comprehensive total rewards package.
Delivery Truck Drivers at US Foods are expected to uphold the highest standards of safety and professionalism. They perform essential duties such as safely driving trucks to customer locations, adhering to scheduled delivery times, and unloading products efficiently using equipment like two-wheelers and pallet jacks. Confirming order accuracy with customers and obtaining necessary signatures ensure accountability and service quality. Drivers may also handle collections and payments when applicable, fostering strong customer relationships through excellent service skills. Additionally, they conduct all required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicles to maintain safety and compliance standards. The job demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to over 80 pounds repeatedly during a shift, and resilience to operate in various weather conditions with frequent stops.
US Foods requires its drivers to be at least 21 years old, possess a valid CDL Class A with appropriate endorsements and DOT qualifications, and have experience—either six months in any commercial driving capacity or three months in the food or beverage delivery industry. Familiarity with operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred and may be mandatory in some locations. Effective communication skills in English are essential for interacting with customers, understanding traffic regulations, and accurately completing necessary documentation. A mandatory registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse ensures compliance with safety regulations, reflecting US Foods' emphasis on integrity and legal adherence.
