Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, renowned for its vast product selection and commitment to excellent customer service. As one of the largest food distributors in the country, US Foods supplies a wide range of food products, equipment, and supplies to restaurants, healthcare facilities, hospitality venues, and other foodservice operations. The company fosters a culture focused on employee development, promotion from within, and unlimited career growth opportunities. US Foods places great emphasis on leadership training and continuous skill development for its workforce, making it a desirable employer in the food distribution industry.

The role of Delivery Driver at US Foods is a critical position that directly supports the company’s operational and customer service goals. Delivery Drivers act as the face of the organization by providing reliable and timely delivery of goods including meats, produce, frozen goods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, and supplies to various customer sites. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working as part of a dedicated team. The work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, with shifts starting early in the morning between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM depending on the assigned route.

New drivers begin with a paid training period of 90 days at a starting pay of $25.00 per hour. After completing training, compensation moves to a component pay structure, which rewards performance and efficiency. Drivers are guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week and receive paid overtime. US Foods emphasizes work-life balance by offering local routes that allow drivers to be home every night. Additional benefits start from day one and include medical, dental, vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), life insurance, and paid parental leave.

In addition to technical skills related to commercial driving, US Foods values drivers who bring integrity, reliability, and a strong customer service orientation. Drivers are expected to handle physical demands such as repeated heavy lifting of items up to 80 pounds and driving in various weather conditions. The role also involves verifying deliveries with customers and, in some cases, collecting payments by cash or check. Compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is mandatory for all drivers.

US Foods is dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment, recognizing the hard work and dedication of its employees through service recognition programs and employee rewards. Those joining the transportation team at US Foods become part of a respected and dynamic company where their role plays a fundamental part in the company’s success and reputational excellence. Delivery Drivers at US Foods are not just drivers—they are ambassadors of the company’s commitment to service and quality. With competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, leadership support, and a community-oriented workplace culture, US Foods offers a promising career path for those looking to build a rewarding profession in food distribution and logistics.
