Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline foodservice distributor under Performance Food Group, plays a vital role in supporting a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, the company provides beyond just food delivery — offering valuable insights to customers on menu development, operational strategies, and product selections. This approach enables Performance Foodservice to build strong, lasting relationships with customers while helping independent restaurant owners achieve their business goals and operational excellence. As a result, the company has earned a reputation for not only delivering high-quality food products but also delivering exceptional customer value through consultative service and operational support.

This job opening is for the position of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, a critical role within the U.S. food supply chain. Drivers at Performance Foodservice are responsible for the timely and safe delivery of food and related products to customers across intrastate and interstate routes. This includes operation of tractor trailers and straight trucks for local, shuttle, overnight, and over-the-road routes. Key to this role is not just the transportation skills but also the ability to represent the company professionally as the face of the brand, ensuring positive customer interactions and fostering lasting client relationships. Drivers typically work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, and shifts can average over 12 hours on long haul days, offering 4- or 5-day work weeks to accommodate different preferences.

With an average pay of $83,000 annually, the role offers competitive compensation along with extensive benefits starting from day one. Employees benefit from health and wellness programs, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The work environment is safe, inclusive, and emphasizes rewards, recognition, and respect among team members. The driving role also involves responsibility for thorough pre- and post-trip inspections complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring that all tractor-trailers and freight meet safety standards prior to delivery.

Responsibilities extend beyond driving and include loading/unloading goods, handling paperwork related to deliveries, verifying product counts and condition, securing freight, and completing logs in accordance with DOT guidelines. Drivers must be physically capable of lifting and maneuvering products weighing between 10 to 90 pounds using equipment such as lift gates and two-wheelers. A valid CDL A license and at least one year of commercial driving experience are required, along with the ability to pass required drug tests, criminal background checks, and road tests. Also essential is maintaining a clean motor vehicle record and having or securing a DOT health card.

This role offers a vital opportunity to support America’s food distribution system in a company that values safety, professionalism, and employee growth. With a focus on essential services, recognition of achievements, and a culture of inclusivity, Performance Foodservice stands out as an employer that provides not just a job but a rewarding career path in food logistics and supply chain management.
