Performance Food Group (PFG) is a leading broadline distributor specializing in delivering foodservice products across the United States. As an integral part of the food distribution ecosystem, PFG works closely with a diverse clientele that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Through a robust network of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, PFG offers not only quality food products but also operational insights, menu development advice, and strategic support designed to help businesses succeed in competitive markets. The values embraced at PFG emphasize inclusivity, respect, and a strong culture of rewards and recognition, fostering a work environment where employees feel valued and motivated to contribute their best.
The role of a CDL-A Delivery Driver at PFG is vital to the company’s mission of maintaining a reliable and efficient food supply chain throughout America. With an average annual salary of $90,000 and a Monday-Friday work schedule that allows drivers to be home daily, this position offers meaningful work combined with stability and competitive compensation. Drivers typically begin shifts between midnight and 5 a.m., working approximately 10 to 12 hours per day, ensuring timely deliveries of food and related products. This role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while managing a range of routes that include intrastate, interstate, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments.
The CDL-A Driver represents the company directly in interactions with customers, vendors, and co-workers, making professionalism and clear communication essential skills. Besides driving responsibilities, the position involves conducting thorough safety inspections of vehicles and equipment, performing product counts, handling paperwork accurately, and executing loading and unloading duties. Drivers are required to ensure the security of freight, manage customer returns, and maintain cleanliness and organization of their work environment. Safety is paramount, and drivers are responsible for promptly reporting any hazards or repairs needed to maintain high operational standards.
PFG values growth, offering employees pathways for career advancement alongside comprehensive benefits, including health and wellness programs commencing from day one, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, employee stock purchase options, education assistance, and paid time off. The company also upholds equal employment opportunities, promoting diversity across all levels of its workforce. This role is ideal for experienced CDL-A drivers seeking stable employment within a supportive and growth-oriented company that plays a crucial part in sustaining America’s food supply chain.
