The US Foods Driver position offers a starting pay of $34.95 per hour and follows a consistent Monday through Friday schedule beginning at 5 a.m. This role involves driving trucks to various customers and ensuring delivery schedules are met punctually. Drivers are responsible for unloading products using equipment like two-wheelers or pallet jacks and placing goods in designated storage areas. Accurate verification of deliveries and obtaining proper signatures from customers are crucial parts of the job duties. Drivers also manage collections and payments when necessary and are expected to maintain professional customer service standards to foster positive client relationships.

Physical demands of this job include repeatedly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items weighing between 20 to 80 pounds or more throughout the shift, as well as working in inclement weather with frequent stops. Candidates should be comfortable driving in various weather conditions and handling the physical aspects of loading and unloading products.

Candidates must be 21 years or older and hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with the necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications. US Foods requires drivers to register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a federal database that tracks commercial driver’s licenses and drug and alcohol program violations, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.

Experience-wise, a minimum of six months commercial driving in any industry or three months specifically related to food or beverage delivery is needed. Preference is given to individuals who can operate a manual transmission, although this may depend on location. Strong communication skills in English are essential, including the ability to understand road signs, respond to inquiries, and document information properly.

Job Duties

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
