Job Description
US FOODS® is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, renowned for its extensive product portfolio and commitment to customer satisfaction. With a culture rooted in promotion from within and continuous career growth opportunities, US FOODS® stands out in the food distribution industry as a company that values its employees and their development. The organization offers ongoing job skills and leadership training, fostering an environment where employees can thrive and reach their full potential. US FOODS® is dedicated to maintaining a respectful and rewarding workplace, emphasizing hard work, collaboration, and integrity as core elements of its success.
As a Delivery Truck Driver at US FOODS®, you will play a vital role in the company’s operations by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of a wide range of products including meats, produce, frozen goods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, and supplies. This position offers a competitive starting wage of $25.00 per hour during training, with opportunities for incentive pay following completion of training. Most drivers work either a 5-day or 4-day workweek, providing a good balance between work and personal life. Delivering products on local routes allows drivers to be home every night, which is a significant advantage for those seeking consistent work hours with the comfort of returning home daily.
The role demands strong customer service skills as delivery drivers are often the face of US FOODS® to their customers. Your responsibility includes not only the safe transport and timely delivery of goods but also maintaining positive, trustworthy relationships with customers. Drivers must be capable of handling manual heavy lifting up to 80 pounds regularly, unloading products using a hand truck, and making multiple stops during shifts, regardless of weather conditions. Verification of delivery items and collection of payments (cash or checks) when necessary are additional duties that highlight the importance of accuracy and responsibility in this role.
US FOODS® values its drivers with guaranteed minimum hours, paid overtime, and paid training. Recognition programs, employee rewards, and excellent leadership support underline the company’s commitment to its workforce. The company offers benefits including health insurance, dental and vision coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, disability insurance, employee stock purchase plans, and life insurance. These benefits reflect the company’s desire to provide a comprehensive compensation package that supports the well-being and security of its employees.
This role also requires compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, including registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, ensuring that all commercial drivers meet federal drug and alcohol program requirements. US FOODS® encourages candidates who aspire to grow within a company that prioritizes its people, culture, and service to join their transportation team and contribute to the continued success of the organization.
