As part of Portland, Oregon's vibrant nonprofit sector, New Narrative plays a vital role in delivering crucial support services to individuals facing mental health challenges, homelessness, and other related hardships.\n\nThe organization is currently seeking a dedicated Delivery Driver to join their team on a part-time basis. This role is essential in ensuring that medications, food, and supplies are reliably delivered from the New Narrative Pharmacy and Commercial Kitchen to various New Narrative residences and outpatient worksites. The position operates from Wednesday to Saturday, with shifts running from 1pm to 10pm, totaling 40 hours per week. The pay rate is competitive at $21.50 per hour, with potential increments depending on experience. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a direct community impact, providing critical logistical support that helps sustain the health and wellness services provided by New Narrative.\n\nAs a Delivery Driver at New Narrative, you will be responsible for the safe and secure transportation of sensitive items including medications and food, observing all safety and traffic regulations. The position requires meticulous attention to detail in handling deliveries, maintaining clear and accurate delivery logs, and ensuring all items are signed off by the appropriate staff members. The role also entails vehicle maintenance responsibilities such as cleanliness and immediate reporting of any vehicle issues, emphasizing safety and reliability. Effective communication and professional interaction with colleagues and clients are expected to maintain a positive working environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous driving experience preferred
  • Ability to work the scheduled shifts Wednesday to Saturday 1pm to 10pm
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to follow safety and traffic regulations
  • Ability to maintain accurate delivery logs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and management

Job Qualifications

  • Good driving record
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check with no drug-related charges
  • Ability to safely lift and move items up to 75 lb
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional and positive interaction skills

Job Duties

  • Report to the worksite on time to pick up delivery items
  • Load delivery vehicle with delivery items
  • ensure the correct items are loaded
  • Drive from the pickup location to each drop off location assigned that day
  • Safely transport medications and food and keep vehicle secure at all times
  • Observe all safety regulations and traffic laws
  • Deliver medications and food from the vehicle to the New Narrative staff person on duty
  • Sign off on delivered items including narcotic medications with the New Narrative staff person on duty
  • Accurately track time and enter it into Workday on a regular basis
  • Unload the delivery vehicle at the end of each shift
  • Maintain a log of delivered goods for verification
  • Keep the delivery vehicle clean and report any unsafe or faulty equipment immediately
  • Interacts in a positive and professional manner with other employees, management, and consumers
  • Observes a fixed work schedule and communicates any deviations from this schedule to a supervisor in advance
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisor in a timely manner
  • Observe all other New Narrative policies and procedures
