The company is deeply committed to building lasting relationships with its clients by providing expert advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. This personalized approach ensures that Performance Foodservice does more than just deliver quality food products—it actively supports independent restaurant owners and local businesses in achieving their operational goals and dreams.
Performance Foodservice prides itself on a safe and inclusive working environment that values rewards, recognition, and respect for its employees. Offering competitive pay and benefits from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, the company fosters growth opportunities for its workforce. The culture emphasizes teamwork and professional development, ensuring that employees are well-equipped to excel in their roles.
The role of CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice is a critical one within the food supply chain. This position requires a commercial driver with a valid CDL-A license to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks delivering food and food-related products to customers. The deliveries may be conducted intrastate or interstate, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. The CDL-A Driver plays a vital role as the face of the company, ensuring timely delivery of products in excellent condition while maintaining a professional and courteous relationship with customers.
CDL-A Drivers are expected to perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. They must report safety issues promptly and operate vehicles following all DOT and company policies to maintain a secure and efficient delivery process. Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading products, verifying deliveries with customers, completing accurate documentation, and adhering to all safety protocols.
Performance Foodservice offers an attractive compensation package for CDL-A Drivers, including an average effective hourly rate of $38 after training and a $10,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply). The work schedule is typically a rotating 4-day workweek during Monday through Friday, with occasional fifth workdays as needed. This schedule offers a balanced work-life dynamic for employees committed to this essential delivery role.
As a CDL-A Driver, you will also be expected to manage physical demands such as hand-lifting, using lift gates and two-wheelers to move product cases, some weighing between 10 and 90 pounds depending on the location. The driver is responsible for the professional handling of merchandise, ensuring it is secured properly during transport and accurately unloaded at the destination.
In summary, Performance Foodservice offers a rewarding career opportunity for CDL-A Drivers who are looking to be part of a respected food distribution company with a strong community presence and growth opportunities. If you have a CDL-A license, a clean driving record, and a commitment to safety and customer service, this position invites you to join a team that values your contributions and supports your professional growth.
