The Delivery and Warehouse Worker role at Farmers Furniture plays a crucial part in maintaining the seamless distribution and delivery of merchandise. This position involves performing functions associated with both warehouse and delivery activities, including driving delivery trucks to customers’ homes or businesses and handling the physical loading and unloading of goods. The role ensures that all logistics operations run smoothly while upholding the company’s stringent safety and service standards. The employee in this position must be able to load trucks efficiently, assist drivers in parking and unloading vehicles safely, and ensure that each delivery is completed accurately with proper documentation such as customer signatures for receipt.

Employees in this classification are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization within the warehouse and store premises, assembling merchandise, setting up product displays and sales promotions, and even assisting with repossessions or customer service-related inspections and repairs when needed. The role requires a hands-on approach, willingness to perform diverse duties, and a strong commitment to safety practices including regular vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks. The position demands physical endurance, as tasks include lifting heavy items (up to and sometimes exceeding 100 pounds), climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and other physical activities necessary for loading, unloading, and setting up merchandise.

In addition to ensuring excellent delivery service, this role supports the overall operational budget by monitoring fuel and fluid usage and submitting accurate records to management. Workers may perform field calls to collect from delinquent customers as directed by management and must be able to exercise judgment and decision-making in repetitive or semi-routine tasks according to established procedures.

The Delivery and Warehouse Worker will also assist in other store departments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork. This role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, six months of previous experience in a distribution or warehouse environment, possession of a valid State Driver’s License, and familiarity with the delivery area. Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations such as having valid medical examiner certification is also necessary for this role.
