The Delivery Driver position at Dead River Company is a critical role that involves the daily responsibility of delivering petroleum products to residential and commercial clients. These deliveries must be conducted with the utmost attention to safety, efficiency, and respect for customer property. The role requires familiarity with federal and state regulations surrounding the handling and transport of hazardous materials, ensuring compliance at every stage. The role also involves operating specialized equipment like the Raven handheld device and requires a high level of technical expertise, including holding certifications such as a Class B Commercial Driver's License with hazardous materials endorsement and CETP propane certification.   • must be at least 21 years of age
  • ability to safely operate delivery vehicle and manage delivery equipment

  • physical stamina to work in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
  • ability to pull delivery hose weighing up to 75 lbs. up to 150 feet an average of 30 times daily
  • willingness to participate in night and weekend on-call schedule

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • at least one year of previous truck driving experience preferred
  • class b commercial driver's license with hazardous materials endorsement required
  • cetp training and certification required to deliver propane
  • apprentice oil burner license required for oil delivery drivers who prime furnaces
  • ability to pass a d.o.t. physical
  • ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing

Job Duties

  • perform a safety check of the delivery vehicle on a daily basis reporting any items needing repair
  • safely and productively review daily manifest, load truck, and make deliveries according to federal and state regulations and company policy
  • follow all established delivery standards with emphasis on customer service, efficiency and productivity
  • attend and actively participate in delivery driver meetings (huddles)
  • effectively communicate with delivery center dispatchers and routing specialists
  • proactively report any customer concerns or other problems encountered
  • maintain a neat personal appearance including a clean uniform
  • attain a thorough understanding and become a proficient user of the Raven handheld device
  • promote good customer relations by professionally interacting with all customers and respecting customer property
  • maintain a clean and organized truck stocked with appropriate tools and safety equipment
  • participate in night and weekend on-call schedule
  • prime furnaces for customers who are out of oil or perform leak test and light pilot for customers who are out of propane
  • embrace growth opportunities involving cross-training or supporting other departments
  • perform other work-related duties as assigned
