Job Description
Cardinal Health is a global, integrated healthcare services and products company providing pharmaceuticals and medical products to healthcare providers and organizations. Recognized as a leader in the healthcare industry, Cardinal Health plays a critical role in the pharmaceutical supply chain, delivering vital medical products and services that support patient care. The company is committed to enhancing healthcare efficiency and quality, operating with a focus on performance, innovation, and integrity. With a broad portfolio including pharmaceutical distribution, medical product manufacturing, and pharmacy services, Cardinal Health is dedicated to advancing healthcare by optimizing the supply of medicine and healthcare products to various medical providers. They emphasize inclusivity and diversity within their workforce, encouraging applications from all qualified candidates, including veterans and people with disabilities. The company offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for career growth and development.
This particular role is with the Pharmacy Services & Delivery division at Cardinal Health, where the primary responsibility centers around the delivery and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals and oncology pharmaceuticals to medical providers. The position is a full-time role, generally 40 hours per week, ideally on a Monday through Friday schedule from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm, but candidates must be flexible to work shifts starting anywhere between 5:00 am and 7:00 am to meet business demands. There might also be occasional weekend, holiday, and on-call assignments, which are generally voluntary but may be required based on operational need. The role offers a $1,000 new hire sign-on bonus and pays an hourly rate of $18.50.
In this position, the employee will operate a company-owned non-CDL vehicle to make deliveries on assigned routes. Duties include the preparation of radiopharmaceutical doses for shipment, packaging and testing medications, scanning orders using handheld tablets, loading and unloading containers in line with Department of Transportation (DOT) safety standards, and maintaining the delivery vehicle in proper working order. The position requires a high degree of responsibility as the pharmaceuticals delivered are highly regulated under state and federal laws, and the Pharmacy Services & Delivery team plays a vital role in ensuring these products are delivered accurately, safely, and in a timely manner to the healthcare providers that rely on them for patient care.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and preferably some prior delivery driving experience. The ability to lift up to 75 pounds, work in all weather conditions, and operate a vehicle safely during day or night is essential. Strong communication and customer service skills are necessary, as is flexibility regarding work hours including potential for overtime with little notice. Working effectively in a nuclear pharmacy environment also requires adherence to strict safety and quality guidelines.
This role suits individuals who are detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage routine deliveries with occasional problem-solving under supervision. Employees retain licenses and training relevant to the role, follow clearly defined operating procedures, and maintain safe handling and delivery of sensitive pharmaceutical products. Cardinal Health offers a supportive work environment with benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, health savings accounts, a 401k savings plan, flexible spending accounts, disability insurance, parental leave, wellness programs, and access to pay before payday.
Overall, this position provides the opportunity to be a crucial link in the healthcare supply chain, ensuring essential medicines reach their destinations safely and efficiently while growing professionally within a leading healthcare company.
