We are currently seeking a skilled Propane Delivery Driver to join the Chesapeake Utilities team in Lantana. This role plays a critical part in our operations by safely delivering propane gas to customers, ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer service. The Propane Delivery Driver will operate delivery trucks and specialized equipment while performing both pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety. Strict adherence to Department of Transportation regulations and company policies is essential, as is observing all traffic laws and defensive driving practices.

In this role, you will be responsible for accurately recording deliveries, meter readings, and tank percentages while executing payment collections and service adjustments sensitively and professionally. Your keen attention to detail will support operational efficiency while your communication skills will help build strong customer relationships and resolve issues effectively. Additionally, you will contribute to maintaining company safety standards by reporting inspection findings and taking appropriate corrective action when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Possess an active CDL class B
  • possess a Hazmat endorsement
  • have a keen sense of smell
  • be comfortable working with exposure to hazardous substances
  • be able to work in various weather conditions
  • have the physical ability to perform delivery duties safely and effectively

Job Duties

  • Operate truck and delivery equipment safely to deliver propane gas
  • perform pre trip and post trip safety inspections of vehicle and equipment
  • document findings of inspections and ensure appropriate action is taken for any exceptions
  • prepare and maintain all documentation required by the Department of Transportation
  • observe all traffic rules and practice defensive driving techniques
  • observe company, industry, and regulatory guidelines for safe operation and propane delivery
  • accurately record deliveries, meter readings, and tank percentages
  • check credit status of customers prior to deliveries when on call
  • collect payments from customers and disconnect gas service as directed
  • provide helpful assistance to resolve customer problems
  • perform other related duties as assigned
