This particular role at LKQ involves working on the first shift, Monday through Friday, with a starting wage of $20 per hour. As a Delivery Driver, the incumbent will be responsible for safely operating a company vehicle to deliver products to customers efficiently and professionally. The role requires physical activity such as manually loading and unloading trucks, verifying parts loaded and unloaded, obtaining customer signatures, and collecting payments. This position necessitates a thorough understanding of vehicle safety, load verification, and customer service. It operates under federal transportation regulations and company policies to ensure compliance and safety. The shift typically runs from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm or until daily routes and tasks are completed.

The Delivery Driver acts as the face of the company during deliveries, making excellent customer service a priority. Duties include checking trucks before departure, accurately following delivery manifests, collecting payment upon delivery, and handling returned items. Employees in this role must be knowledgeable about Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and participate in mandatory annual training. This role is not supervisory but is essential to LKQ's operational success by ensuring timely and accurate deliveries and maintaining the company’s positive reputation.

Job Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • be able to qualify for corporate insurance programs, including vehicle insurance
  • meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements
  • comply with state and local mandated requirements as well as DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations
  • possess a valid driver’s license
  • no degree required
  • 1+ years of experience
  • able to obtain a "For Hire" endorsement

  • ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs
  • frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc.
  • ability to create, maintain and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and PowerPoint presentations
  • regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills
  • able to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity

Job Duties

  • Drive a company vehicle in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner avoiding traffic violations and accidents
  • physically load company truck at the location and verify the condition of the truck, the manifest, and other paperwork associated with the deliveries to be made
  • drive to the delivery destination and physically unload the truck, verify parts unloaded, obtain signature of receiving location, confirming the accuracy of parts shown on the order and those received, and sign off on the integrity of what was loaded at the location
  • make proper notations on the manifest and provide receipts on parts being returned from customers to the location
  • collect accounts receivable, as necessary
  • comply with established company policies and procedures
  • successful completion of annual training as assigned
  • operate in compliance with applicable rules and regulations set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
  • provide excellent customer service during delivery/pick up of products
  • assume other duties as assigned
