Mobile Meals is a vital community service organization dedicated to delivering nutritious meals to individuals who are unable to prepare meals for themselves, often due to age, disability, or other challenging circumstances. The Mobile Meals Delivery Driver position is responsible for the accurate processing and delivery of meals and related products to the organization's clients. This role is more than just making deliveries; it requires organizing routes, maintaining timely deliveries, monitoring client well-being, completing necessary documentation, and upholding the positive reputation of Mobile Meals within the community. Drivers often serve as a critical human connection for clients, many of whom may have limited social interactions. As such, the role demands attentiveness, reliability, and excellent communication skills. Additionally, drivers are expected to participate in ongoing training, including vehicle maintenance, safety protocols, and driving techniques, to maintain high standards of operation. This position typically requires flexible daytime hours and includes compliance with state and agency regulations, such as valid driver’s licenses, background checks, and vehicle inspections. Job Requirements
- Must be able to provide own transportation with vehicle meeting State Highway Patrol safety and maintenance standards
- Must have a good driving record
- Must be able to work flexible daytime hours
- GPS skills preferred but not required
- Ability to comply with agency policies and procedures
- Must pass Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation background check
- Must comply with AFS written standards including Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct policies
Job Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Computer skills
- Ability to follow detailed delivery instructions and routes
- Valid State of Ohio Driver's License
- Must meet agency requirements for driving insurability
- Ability to comply with criminal background check requirements
- Preferred high school diploma or GED
Job Duties
- Organize delivery by order of clients and products, including mapping and routing adjustments as needed
- Maintain timely meal delivery and report client concerns to Mobile Meals staff
- Monitor clients during deliveries to provide human interaction and report any issues
- Document meal delivery according to Mobile Meals policies and funder requirements
- Report delivery problems promptly
- Attend required training sessions on vehicle maintenance, safety, and driving techniques annually
- Represent Mobile Meals positively to the community
- Maintain neat and orderly work area
- Foster a cooperative and accountable work environment
- Comply with agency policies, COA regulations, federal and state requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
