The role of Delivery Driver at Nicholas and Company offers an exciting opportunity for responsible individuals who are committed to ensuring the timely and professional delivery of products to customers. This position is critical to maintaining the company's customer satisfaction and profitability by providing reliable and efficient distribution services. The delivery driver will represent Nicholas and Company in a professional manner, embodying the company's values in every customer interaction. The employment schedule is Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays, starting early in the morning around 4:00 am and continuing until deliveries are completed. The pay rate begins at $30.00 per hour plus incentive pay, providing the opportunity to enhance earnings based on performance.

In this role, drivers are expected to operate delivery scanners and electronic log systems to accurately track stops, locations, and deliveries. They are responsible for collecting, signing, and correctly coding invoices, ensuring accurate financial reconciliation daily. Additionally, drivers must handle the physical transportation of products using hand carts or by hand, navigate ramps, stairs, and docks, and place products in designated areas at customer locations. Cleanliness and hygiene are important, with expectations to maintain sanitary conditions and meet standard hygiene requirements throughout the delivery process.

Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is a key aspect, including performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and adhering to all traffic rules. Drivers must maintain communication with supervisors and sales teams, reporting any delivery variances, accidents, damages, or customer issues promptly via the driver log and tracking systems. Strong customer relations and problem-solving skills are essential to handle any situations that may arise effectively.

Job Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Class A CDL
  • Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic math skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with internal team members and customers
  • Meets all DOT requirements and possess current medical card

Job Duties

  • Operate delivery scanner at each stop
  • Collect, sign, and correctly code all invoices
  • Transport product on ramps, stairs, and/or docks
  • Place product in designated customer delivery area
  • Operate electronic log system to track stops and locations
  • Maintain sanitary conditions and meet standard hygiene requirements
  • Check invoices for credit terms at each stop and collect funds when needed
  • Turn in reconciliation sheet along with collected funds and invoices to Returns Clerk daily
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip in accordance with DOT regulations and company procedures
  • Safely operate and deliver product within assigned route schedule using hand cart or by hand
  • Immediately notify supervisor, sales, etc. for any delivery variance via driver log/tracking system
  • Obey all traffic rules and immediately report accidents or damages, report repair issues immediately
  • Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem-solving skills, report customer issues immediately
