The role available is for a Delivery Driver responsible for making safe, timely deliveries to customers using company-provided or rental vehicles, primarily box trucks or similar transport vehicles. This position involves not just the transportation of merchandise but also maintaining company vehicle standards, delivering excellent customer service, and managing order documentation accurately. The Delivery Driver must perform pre- and post-trip inspections following Department of Transportation regulations, manage records meticulously, and stay in regular communication with distribution centers to handle any delivery interruptions such as traffic or missing orders. They are required to load and unload merchandise using material handling equipment and ensure orders are complete and accurate before dispatch. Drivers are expected to demonstrate professionalism and courteous interaction with customers while providing updates on delivery statuses.
This position requires a valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), with continuous monitoring by the company. Candidates should have prior experience operating box trucks, handling material equipment, and managing deliveries in wholesale distribution. The work environment is typically comfortable but may include moderate physical exertion with exposure to noise, temperature extremes, and moving machinery. The job occasionally requires overnight travel, less than 10% of the time. Physical tasks like heavy lifting of over 50 pounds and maneuvering materials are common. Education preferences include a high school diploma or GED, with specialized skills or certification often beneficial. Candidates with 2-5 years of relevant experience in delivery and logistics are preferred.
Overall, this role is ideal for individuals who have a passion for the logistics and distribution industries, strong customer service skills, and a commitment to safe driving practices. In return, HD Supply provides a supportive work culture with opportunities for growth, emphasizing the importance of safety, accuracy, and professionalism in delivery operations.
