Job Description
McLane is a distinguished leader in the distribution industry with a legacy spanning over 130 years. Since its founding in 1894, McLane has developed a vast nationwide network that supports a diverse array of clients, including those in the restaurant, retail, and e-commerce sectors. The company’s focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology, commitment to ongoing team member training, and a strong people-centered culture have allowed McLane to maintain its agility and industry-leading position. This dedication to innovation and team development continues to drive McLane’s growth and success in the distribution marketplace.
At McLane, the team is fundamental to the company’s achievements. It is composed of professionals from various backgrounds such as Sales, IT, Dispatch, and Mechanics, all working cohesively to ensure seamless operations. This collaborative environment fosters professional growth, skill development, and the opportunity to build lasting connections with colleagues across the country. Joining McLane means becoming part of a community that values dedication, expertise, and a shared commitment to excellence.
The role of Delivery Assistant is an essential position within McLane’s delivery operations. This role is physically demanding and fast-paced and serves as direct support to a McLane Delivery Driver. It is important to note that Delivery Assistants do not drive the delivery trucks; rather, their primary responsibilities involve unloading trailers, handling delivery items, and assisting with the timely and accurate delivery of goods. The Delivery Assistant acts as a face of the company to customers, making excellent customer service skills a beneficial asset.
The position requires considerable physical stamina as it involves bending, lifting pallets or products weighing up to 75 pounds, and extensive walking throughout the workday. Delivering products safely and efficiently is a top priority, and as such, careful attention to proper work and safety protocols is essential. The Delivery Assistant works closely with Delivery Drivers to ensure all deliveries meet customer expectations and adhere to McLane’s standards of quality and accuracy.
Working at McLane offers not only the opportunity for personal and professional growth but also a comprehensive benefits package. Delivery Assistants earn a competitive pay rate of $21.50 per hour, along with benefits that begin on the 60th day of employment, including medical, dental, and vision insurance. Additional benefits such as flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA), company-paid life insurance, paid vacation and sick leave accrual starting from day one, and paid holidays after 90 days further enhance the role’s appeal.
McLane also offers a 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan after 90 days, alongside other valuable perks like pet insurance, parental leave, employee assistance programs, discount programs, and tuition reimbursement, making it a comprehensive package to support the health, wellbeing, and financial security of its employees. The company fosters an inclusive hiring practice, ensuring equal employment opportunities without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
As McLane looks to the future, the company remains committed to advancing America’s distribution capabilities and upholding its strong legacy by continuing to embrace new technology and prioritize the development of its workforce. If you are safety-focused, reliable, adaptable, and dedicated, McLane invites you to consider joining their team and contributing to a company that values your skills and growth.
