Job Description

McLane is a leading distribution company with a rich history dating back to 1894. With over 130 years of experience, McLane has built a vast nationwide network that serves key industries such as restaurants, retail, and e-commerce. The company prides itself on its people-centered culture, embracing the latest technology and providing continuous training to its team members to stay agile and competitive in the market. McLane’s diverse workforce includes professionals from various departments like Sales, IT, Dispatch, and Mechanics, all working collaboratively to ensure smooth operations and outstanding service to clients.

As part of McLane's commitment to its employees, the company offers a dynamic and engaging workplace where team members can develop skills, build connections nationwide, and contribute to the company's ongoing success. McLane values safety, reliability, adaptability, and dedication, making it an ideal place for individuals who want to grow and make a meaningful impact.

The Delivery Assistant role at McLane is a physically active and fast-paced position that supports the Delivery Driver throughout the delivery process. Unlike the driver, the Delivery Assistant does not operate the vehicle but is responsible for tasks such as unloading trailers, transporting products using hand trucks or dollies, and placing items into customer-designated food-safe storage areas. This job involves a lot of bending, lifting, and walking, typically handling products and pallets up to 75 pounds. Delivery Assistants are also vital representatives of McLane’s brand to customers, making excellent customer service skills a valuable asset.

This position offers a competitive pay rate of $20 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package starting on the 60th day of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with options for FSA/HSA and company-paid life insurance. Additional perks include vacation time, sick leave accrual from day one, paid holidays after 90 days, and access to a 401(k) profit-sharing plan following three months. Employees can also take advantage of supplemental benefits such as pet insurance, parental leave, employee assistance programs, discount programs, and a tuition reimbursement program.

McLane fosters a safe work environment where team members work together to prevent injuries and protect products. It encourages a culture of safety, reliability, and adaptability, expecting employees to be dedicated collaborators who contribute to timely and accurate deliveries. Those interested in joining the McLane team should be at least 18 years old, able to lift and move heavy items, and have sufficient English proficiency to understand safety protocols and job instructions. McLane is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and provides fair consideration for all applicants regardless of their background.

By joining McLane as a Delivery Assistant, you will be part of a prestigious company recognized as a leader in the distribution industry for more than a century. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills through hands-on work and structured training, all while contributing directly to McLane’s mission of moving America forward together. This role is perfect for energetic, safety-conscious individuals who enjoy physical work and are dedicated to delivering excellent customer service with every interaction.
