This classification is designed to support Farmers Furniture's delivery and warehouse operations. The position primarily involves assisting with the loading and unloading of trucks, managing warehouse inventory by placing stock on shelves or racks, and setting up merchandise and sales promotion displays. The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to exert heavy effort, including lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds or more. The warehouse/delivery assistant will perform general maintenance and groundskeeping duties for both the warehouse and the store, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of these areas.

A critical component of this role is assisting delivery truck drivers by directing trucks into unloading zones safely and efficiently. The individual will be responsible for recording deliveries accurately and ensuring proper documentation by obtaining customer signatures for pickups or deliveries. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the repossession of goods, assembling merchandise, and performing customer service inspections and repairs as needed. The position requires excellent situational reasoning and judgment, especially when dealing with repetitive or standardized operations that demand timely and precise execution.

Job Requirements

  • jr. high school diploma
  • six months experience in distribution or warehouse environment, shipping/receiving or delivering merchandise
  • ability to exert heavy physical effort, including lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds or more
  • ability to perform general maintenance and groundskeeping duties
  • ability to communicate orally
  • ability to perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals
  • ability to operate warehouse equipment and tools safely
  • ability to maintain cleanliness of store and warehouse interior and grounds
  • ability to follow safety procedures
  • capability to work in adverse environmental conditions such as dust and temperature extremes
  • willingness to assist in other store departments as required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • place stock on shelves or racks and set up merchandise and sales promotion displays
  • perform general maintenance and groundskeeping duties for warehouse and/or store
  • unload merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks
  • ensure safe operations of vehicles by assisting delivery truck drivers with directing trucks into unloading areas
  • record deliveries on delivery record and submit to appropriate management
  • load truck in preparation for daily deliveries
  • assist with delivery, unloading and set-up
  • obtain customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery
  • assist with repossessions of goods
  • assemble merchandise as required
  • perform customer service inspections and repairs as needed
  • maintain cleanliness of store/warehouse interior and grounds and uphold the company’s delivery standards
  • uphold and promote H.O.M.E. values
