The role of Delicatessen Clerk at Hy-Vee is a crucial position within the Delicatessen department. This is a non-exempt role focused on customer interaction, food safety, and maintaining cleanliness in the work environment. In this role, you will be responsible for safely handling food items, keeping your work area orderly, and operating registers to receive payments and provide change as needed. As a Delicatessen Clerk, you will play an essential part in creating a welcoming atmosphere by greeting customers and addressing them by name when possible. You will assist customers in locating products, fulfilling orders, and responding to their needs with patience and care. Team collaboration is encouraged as part of the daily work routine to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and customers leave satisfied. The position also involves reviewing orders for the day, monitoring product freshness, maintaining an adequate inventory, and following production lists to replenish food items.

The Delicatessen Clerk works under several supervisors including the District Store Director, Store Manager, and the Delicatessen Department Manager. Although no positions report directly to the clerk, the role is integral to the department's day-to-day operations.
