Job Description
City Market Co-Op is a community-owned grocery cooperative dedicated to providing a wide variety of local, organic, and conventional products at fair prices to the community. We are currently seeking an experienced Deli Service Team Leader to join our Prepared Foods department at City Market Co-Op across all city market locations. This role reports directly to Prepared Foods Management and offers an hourly starting wage of $20.53. As a Grade 6 position, the Deli Service Team Leader is a crucial link between management and deli staff, overseeing day-to-day deli operations, training new employees, and ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation standards. The Deli Service Team Leader will be responsible for scheduling and directing deli employees, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of food items, maintaining inventory, reviewing invoices, and supporting overall deli cleanliness and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience as a line cook, sous chef, or chef, or alternatively, several years of kitchen experience, complemented by a high school diploma or GED, with culinary education preferred. Proficiency in food safety, quality control, and team leadership are essential in this role.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of line cook, sous chef or chef experience or three years kitchen experience
- Ability to train and lead deli staff
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
- Servesafe certification preferred

Job Duties
- Scheduling and directing activities of the deli staff, this includes ensuring proper safety and sanitation procedures are followed
- Leading deli service staff to ensure prep work is completed timely and correctly
- Maintaining and recording inventory and stock levels of prepared foods
- Reviewing and preparing department invoices and return vouchers
- Training of newly hired staff in accordance with the deli training guide
- Assisting in preparation, stocking and cleaning of food display and production stations
- Compliance with established City Market procedures and practices regarding operations, sales, safety, and security
- May be required to perform related other duties as assigned
