City Market Co-Op is a community-owned grocery cooperative that prides itself on supporting the local food system by offering a wide variety of local, organic, and conventional products at fair prices. As a well-established co-op with multiple locations, City Market emphasizes a culture of respect and appreciation for customers, vendors, co-workers, and the broader community. Their commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices has made them a trusted destination for people who value quality food and community connection. City Market Co-Op is currently seeking dedicated Deli Service Staff members to join their Prepared Foods Department. The position is Unionized under UE Local 203, classified as non-exempt, Grade 4, and offers a starting wage of $18.59 per hour. The role is available at all City Market locations, providing candidates the option to work at their preferred store within the cooperative's network.
The Deli Service Staff plays a crucial role in crafting many of City Market's popular offerings. This role is ideal for individuals interested in growing their culinary skills or retail experience within a supportive and community-focused environment. The job includes assisting with food preparation, stocking, and maintaining cleanliness of all food displays and production stations, ensuring that finished products are fresh, tasty, and attractive. Additionally, the position involves providing exceptional customer service to a diverse range of stakeholders including customers, vendors, co-workers, and community members. The Deli Service Staff also assists with operational tasks such as gathering ingredients, receiving and stocking new products, and adhering strictly to City Market's established procedures on sales, safety, and security.
This opportunity allows candidates to contribute to a vibrant local food system while developing valuable work experience in a cooperative environment that values teamwork and community responsibility. With a culture built on cherishing people and food, City Market Co-Op encourages continuous learning and offers a supportive atmosphere for employees to thrive. Joining the Prepared Foods Department means being part of a dynamic team that not only serves quality products but also helps shape the future of local food accessibility and sustainability. This position is suitable for those who are passionate about food, customer service, and making a positive impact in their community.
