The Service Deli Manager role at Albertsons is a critical leadership position that directs the overall operation of the service deli department to ensure excellence in customer service, product quality, and safety standards. This position is responsible for supervising and training deli personnel to maintain product freshness, proper merchandising, and sanitary conditions that meet retail and regulatory requirements. In this role, the manager oversees daily functions, including receiving, preparing, cooking, slicing, and packaging deli products while ensuring compliance with food safety, labeling laws, and company policies. This leadership role includes ordering merchandise, controlling shrink and expenses, maintaining accurate records, and implementing effective promotional displays to drive sales.

As the face of the service deli to customers, the manager champions Albertsons’ philosophy of personalized service and handles customer relations professionally, including resolving complaints and assisting with special orders and suggestive selling. Managing the team includes scheduling associates, monitoring performance, and maintaining a positive work environment built on integrity, safety, and teamwork. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous supervisory experience in a retail deli or food service environment
  • knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation regulations
  • ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 55 pounds
  • strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to schedule, train, and manage a team
  • ability to handle customer service situations professionally
  • willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • reliable attendance record
  • basic computer skills

Job Qualifications

  • working knowledge of all service deli duties including food preparation and cooking

Job Duties

  • Champion company and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division goals
  • handle customer relations and effectively resolve complaints
  • supervise daily service deli operations including inspections and corrective actions
  • assist in receiving, cleaning, preparing, cooking, slicing, and packaging duties
  • implement promotional and seasonal displays and control shrink and expenses
  • order, check, receive, and control inventory to ensure quality and freshness
  • ensure proper merchandising, compliance with labeling laws and policies
  • handle re-worked and reduced-to-clear items according to policy
  • assist customers with special orders and suggestive selling
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work and sales areas
  • answer and respond to incoming calls and reports complaints as appropriate
  • implement emergency procedures during equipment malfunctions
  • schedule and train service deli associates and monitor their performance
  • maintain confidentiality of company and associate information
  • perform all job duties safely and with integrity
  • perform other necessary duties as assigned
