The Fresh Market is currently seeking a dedicated and energetic Deli Manager to join their team at the Tuscaloosa, Alabama location. This role is a pivotal leadership position that involves overseeing the deli department of the store, which includes managing staff, inventory, pricing accuracy, and operational workflows. The Deli Manager acts as a key point of contact between the deli team and store leadership, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly and that the department maintains high standards of quality and safety. This role requires a hands-on leader who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, motivate team members, and maintain excellent guest relations.

The Deli Manager will be responsible for directing day-to-day deli activities, including greeting guests, providing product recommendations, managing order guides, and ensuring proper stock rotation. They will also lead the team in preparing and slicing meats, cheeses, and convenient meal solutions while maintaining compliance with safety and hygiene standards. Training and coaching team members through The Fresh Market’s internal training platform is a crucial aspect of this role, helping to build expertise and enhance the guest service experience.

As this role demands flexibility, candidates should be prepared to work varied shifts covering weekends, evenings, holidays, and days, embracing the dynamic nature of retail operations. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of retail, restaurant, or hospitality management experience, strong organizational skills, and a passion for cultivating a workplace that values excellence and team collaboration.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of management experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality field or 5 years of related management experience
  • Ability to read and follow planograms, layouts, and schematics for merchandising
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Job Duties

  • Greeting guests and proactively assisting them in a friendly manner with accurate and timely information
  • Making recommendations and accommodating requests
  • Managing order guides, ordering deadlines, reducing shrink and damage
  • Properly receiving and stocking of goods that follow rotation standards when replenishing product levels
  • Direct teams to handle, slice and prepare a variety of the department’s meat, cheeses, and Convenient Meal Solutions throughout the day
  • Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members on-the-job as well as through The Fresh Market’s internal training platform to provide excellent guest service in a safe and secure manner
