Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain authorization
- successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
- high school diploma or equivalent
- supervisory experience of 3 to 6 years minimum
- strong customer service skills
- exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities
- knowledge of basic math
- ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs and pulling up to 250 lbs
- ability to operate deli equipment according to company guidelines
- proficiency in computer applications used for department operations
- possession or ability to obtain Food Safety Certification within 180 days
- commitment to uphold food safety and sanitation standards
- willingness to work varied shifts including evening prime-time shifts
- occasional travel
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- excellent customer service skills
- strong interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills
- knowledge of basic math
- ability to handle stressful situations
- proficiency with deli equipment such as slicer, fryer, oven, scale, knives, box cutter, and pricing gun
- computer proficiency related to department operations
- possession or ability to obtain Food Safety Certification within 180 days
- supervisory experience of at least 1 to 5 years
- English language proficiency
- Spanish language skills preferred
Job Duties
- Manage daily operations of the deli department
- promote and execute consistent, compliant operating conditions
- provide fresh and appealing products with courteous, knowledgeable service
- execute merchandising plans mindful of standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends
- supervise, train, and develop team members, providing coaching as needed
- create an environment that increases customer confidence and loyalty
- ensure department is merchandised per plan and maintained in-stock
- deliver daily freshness, quality, and value standards
- offer product samples and assist with product selection
- fulfill customer requests and special orders
- promote trust and respect by collaborating and communicating company and department information
- establish goals for merchandising, sales, and profits and empower team
- manage schedules to ensure customer service during peak hours
- adhere to legal and company guidelines
- complete daily and weekly administrative tasks including communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, and orders
- maintain inventory awareness and report discrepancies
- review and inspect products for quality and freshness
- plan and perform inventory processes
- ensure proper food safety temperature controls and documentation
- merchandise department consistent with company guidelines
- utilize production planning tools to manage product freshness and reduce shrink
- ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity
- comply with food safety regulatory requirements including USDA and COOL
- execute timely product recalls and withdrawals
- reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
- report accidents, safety risks, and illegal activities
- ensure wage and hour policy adherence
- cultivate a culture of safety
- ensure all associates receive necessary safety training and use PPE
- ensure equipment is in good repair and report hazards
- perform other job-related duties as assigned
