The role of Kitchen Manager at La Montanita Food Cooperative is a full-time position responsible for overseeing and directing the operations within the Deli Department. This role steps in during the absence of the Deli Department Team Leader and works closely under their guidance to maintain smooth day-to-day operations. Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- minimum of three years' customer service skills
- minimum of two years' experience in food service purchasing, preparation, or merchandising perishable products
- knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management
- excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills
- capable of teaching others positively and constructively
- proficient mathematical skills
- food safety certification or willingness to obtain within one month
- demonstrated decision-making and leadership ability

Job Duties
- Oversee department operations under the direction of the Deli Department Team Leader
- facilitate day-to-day operations ensuring performance standards are met
- supervise work performance and conduct of team members
- model supportive and participatory leadership promoting cooperation and team building
- address and report concerns with team members promptly
- create and facilitate trainings for team members
- ensure new hires are trained effectively
- support security and safety protocols
- order, receive, and merchandise products following guidelines
- maintain a working knowledge of all deli products
- assist customers with product selections
- ensure accurate and sanitary product processing and labeling
- prioritize prep work, stocking, cleaning, and customer service
- create and maintain a welcoming environment for customers
- assist in inventory counts and storewide cleaning
- reinforce safety by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
- ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- maintain and update ServSafe certification
