As a Deli Kitchen Clerk, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of quality for all foods produced by the deli kitchen. You will support the overall daily operations, contributing to the establishment's success by preparing various deli products according to company specifications and recipes. The role involves performing a variety of prep tasks such as sandwich and panini preparation, salad bar production, and assisting with cooking duties.

This position demands a hands-on approach to food preparation, including washing, cutting, peeling, and chopping ingredients both manually and with machines. Beyond food preparation, the role involves tasks like packaging, weighing, labeling products, and operating equipment such as ovens, stoves, and fryers. Accurate record-keeping of food temperatures and adherence to food safety standards and FIFO product rotation policies are essential to minimize waste and maintain product freshness. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Food Handlers Certificate (ServSafe or ANSI compliant organization)
  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Basic cooking and grilling skills
  • Demonstrate proper food handling and safety procedures
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic math skills
  • Conversational English skills

Job Duties

  • Complete prep work for various areas of the deli including panini,sandwich prep, packer, prep cook, and salad bar production
  • Follow and complete daily production sheets
  • Aid with preparation of products according to the companys specifications and recipes
  • Wash, soak, cut, peel and chop ingredients by hand or machine
  • Package, weigh, and label products using the Cry-O-Vac (ROP) when appropriate
  • Consistently check and record all food temperatures in proper logs
  • Accurately practice FIFO product rotation to minimize and control spoilage and waste
  • Organize, rotate, and stock workstation and department supplies
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Operate equipment such as stoves, fryers, and ovens
  • Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Follow and comply with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations to supervisors
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors
