Job Description

The position we are looking to fill is for a Deli Dishwasher at a well-established deli department that takes pride in maintaining cleanliness and adhering to strict health and safety standards. The employer offers a regular full-time role with a competitive wage range of 19.00 to 22.00 dollars per hour. This role requires complete open availability with weekend shifts being mandatory, reflecting the busy nature of the deli sector, especially during peak times and weekends when customer traffic increases.

Working as a Deli Dishwasher means playing a crucial support role in the daily operations of the deli department. The dishwasher is responsible for maintaining an orderly and sanitary dish area that complies with all health and safety regulations. This includes washing dishes, pots, pans, trays, utensils, and kitchen equipment to ensure they meet food safety guidelines.

Additionally, this role entails cleaning work areas such as rotisserie stations, stove tops, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks ensuring that all equipment and utensils stay sanitary and ready for daily food preparation. The dishwasher also handles cleaning and maintaining the dish machine and other kitchen appliances, keeping the workspace free from clutter and hazards.

This position requires an individual who is attentive to detail and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Operating dishwashing machinery safely, managing waste and recycling properly, and assisting with some food preparation tasks are key components of the role. Moreover, the dishwasher will be expected to organize deliveries and stock supplies such as cleaning detergents and paper towels while following all established procedures including weights and measures, health standards, sanitation guidelines, and safe work practices.

The role demands physical stamina, as the dishwasher will be on their feet for extended periods and frequently performing various physical motions including lifting, bending, twisting, and other manual tasks. Exposure to food allergens, detergents, and variable temperature conditions is common, so proper safety adherence is essential. Wearing non-slip, water and oil-resistant closed-toe shoes is a job requirement for safety reasons.

To be successful in this role, candidates must be at least 18 years old with strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Being a team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision is important, along with the ability to prioritize tasks in an evolving, dynamic environment. Basic math skills and conversational English are required, with bilingual proficiency preferred but not mandatory.

In terms of educational prerequisites, candidates should have at minimum a high school diploma or GED. They must also possess a Food Handlers Certificate from a recognized organization such as ServSafe or ANSI to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. This certification demonstrates the individual’s knowledge and commitment to maintaining sanitary environments necessary for food handling.

Overall, this full-time Deli Dishwasher role offers an opportunity for individuals seeking stable employment with competitive pay, benefits, and potential for career growth within the company. Those who thrive in organized, fast-paced environments and who are committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety will find this position rewarding and vital to the success of the deli department.
