The Deli Culinary Professional Program at Lunds & Byerlys is a full-time, immersive training initiative that seeks to build highly skilled culinary professionals within the deli department. Focused on combining hands-on experience with expert knowledge, this program elevates participants' abilities to meet the company’s high standards of quality, service, and craftsmanship. The deli departments at Lunds & Byerlys are known not only for their classic, local staples, but also for pioneering innovative and trend-forward food options that inspire and excite customers.
This career development program is designed for six participants who will commit full-time to learning the intricacies of deli work. Starting on August 3rd, participants will work primarily in the Twin Cities Metro area, with schedules initially set for Monday through Friday, and eventually transitioning to a broader weekday and weekend mix that matches retail operations. Early training is centralized at the St. Louis Park location, providing a structured environment for skill-building before participants go on to shadow employees at various stores, gaining practical insights into customer service, product preparation, and deli operations.
Throughout the program, individuals will be engaged in a comprehensive mix of classroom instruction and real-world exposure, including visits to the company’s manufacturing facility and vendor partners. These experiences offer a 360-degree view of product development, production, and deli industry trends. The program emphasizes developing passionate culinary professionals who not only craft delectable food but also contribute to memorable, personalized customer experiences. Reliability, creativity, teamwork, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for food and hospitality are key attributes nurtured throughout the program.
Participants will start earning a competitive wage of $22.50 per hour during the training period, which increases to $23.50 upon successful program completion.
