The role of a Deli Clerk at Houchens Food Group is essential in maintaining the deli-bakery department's high standards. A Deli Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring that all deli merchandise is properly stocked, priced, and presented according to the company's guidelines. In addition to stocking and pricing, the Deli Clerk ensures the deli-bakery equipment and tools are cleaned consistently and safely. This role requires the ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds comfortably and to perform physically demanding tasks such as standing or walking for extended periods. Secondary duties include maintaining a clean work area, unloading deliveries, potentially decorating cakes, and assisting with product orders when the deli manager is absent. The position requires adherence to safety policies and an ability to work in temperature extremes, such as cold storage environments. Job Duties

Rotates, stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies
correctly prices all merchandise according to departmental guidelines
follows proper wrapping and packaging procedure including the use of the correct size tray and plastic wrap and/or container
performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.)
operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner except when restricted due to age
follows all safety policies and procedures
cleans all required deli-bakery department tools and equipment
follows proper procedure for producing all bakery/deli products
stands and/or walks at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions
ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
maintains a neat and clean work area
performs all essential job functions at an acceptable level of speed and accuracy
performs all job functions with limited supervision
may be required to decorate cakes
receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines
ability to lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds
ability to work in temperature extremes (frozen foods & storage cooler maximum low temperature, -10 degrees)
orders product according to established guidelines in the absence of deli manager
