The role of Deli Department Lead at The Fresh Market is a pivotal position that supports the Deli Department Manager in ensuring the deli operates efficiently and effectively. This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about food and dedicated to creating excellent guest experiences. As a Deli Department Lead, you will play a key part in leading and coaching a team, helping colleagues develop their skills, and maintaining a department that meets high standards of quality and presentation. You will be responsible for overseeing labor schedules to meet productivity and budget goals, managing inventory levels to reduce shrink, and assisting with ordering processes. This leadership position requires acting as a resource and stepping in as an acting manager when needed, demonstrating a culture of hospitality, teamwork, and operational excellence.
In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Deli Department Lead plays an important role in customer engagement by modeling and coaching impeccable hospitality. This means actively engaging guests to create positive experiences and ensuring every visitor feels welcome. You will help implement merchandising strategies and promotional plans that drive sales and profitability, analyze financial and performance metrics, and collaborate with other department leaders to contribute to overall store success. The Fresh Market is equipped with technology tools and systems that the Deli Lead will leverage to improve efficiency and accuracy in all tasks.
This position requires flexibility, including working weekends, evenings, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of retail and fresh food service. - experience in grocery, fresh food retail, hospitality, or high-volume specialty retail environment preferred
- knowledge of inventory management systems and financial reporting preferred
- bilingual skills a plus
Job Duties
