The position of Deli Department Lead is an integral leadership role within The Fresh Market. As a Deli Department Lead, you will support the Deli Department Manager by assisting in the daily operations of the deli section, ensuring that the department runs smoothly and efficiently. Your role will involve leading and motivating a team of employees to deliver exceptional guest experiences that align with the company’s mission of impeccable hospitality. With a focus on teamwork and coaching, you will work closely with your team and manager, helping to develop skills, resolve conflicts, and celebrate successes. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, minimizing shrinkage, and aiding in ordering processes to ensure product freshness and availability. Additionally, you will help monitor labor schedules to meet budget goals and productivity standards.

This role also requires you to engage directly with guests, implementing merchandising strategies and promotional plans to maximize sales. Acting as a resource and stepping in as acting manager during the manager’s absence will require strong problem-solving skills, leadership, and a proactive approach. Working in collaboration with other department leaders will be essential to drive overall store success. The ability to leverage technology, such as POS systems and scheduling tools, is important for efficiently managing daily tasks. This position requires a flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.   • 1+ years of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or general business
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams
  • Proven ability to deliver an exceptional guest experience while achieving performance goals
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Basic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and financial reporting preferred
  • Bilingual skills a plus
