The Deli / Bakery Supervisor is accountable for maintaining thorough knowledge of all products carried in the department, including the differences in price, taste, preparation, and use among various bakery, deli, and meat items. This expertise enables them to guide their team in providing exceptional service and ensuring product quality that aligns with customer expectations.

Financial and operational oversight are critical duties, with the supervisor regularly reviewing financial results to gauge the department's performance against budgeted sales, expenses, and payroll. They lead the planning and execution of departmental needs, coordinate with managers to convey store-level feedback, and evaluate vendor promotions to select purchases that optimize sales, inventory turnover, and customer traffic.

Additional responsibilities include providing training to managers, ensuring management awareness protocols are followed, delegating tasks effectively to maximize team performance, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The supervisor must be adaptable, capable of filling in as the Market Manager when necessary, and physically able to perform tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking products, and handling various physical demands of the role. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • college background preferred
  • 5 years experience in deli bakery department operations
  • completion of a management training program or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • able to perform heavy work exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally and 25-50 pounds of force frequently and or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • requires walking and or standing up to a significant degree
  • able to climb stand bend push or pull twist grasp squeeze stoop kneel squat reach handle finger and feel
  • able to read small numbers and dates in the meat department
  • subject to psychological stress

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • college background preferred
  • 5 years experience in the deli bakery department operations
  • completion of a management training program or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Duties

  • Must be thoroughly familiar with all products carried in the department including being fully knowledgeable in the difference price taste preparation or use between the many varieties and types of bakery deli and meat products
  • Review financial and operating results to determine where the deli bakery department stands relative to budgeted sales expenses and payroll
  • Provide leadership and direction for the assigned area of deli bakery departments
  • Provide training to Deli Bakery Managers in the overall operation of the department
  • Ensure all aspects of Management Awareness is followed
  • Evaluate deli bakery needs and plans and executes the needs
  • Communicate and coordinate with Deli Bakery Managers to provide feedback from the store
  • Set up resets and helps to perform such task
  • Perform deli bakery responsibilities in absence of Market Manager
  • Interface with manufacturer's and sales representatives and evaluate vendor promotions in accordance with company policy
  • Responsible for efficient and effective delegation of duties to achieve maximum performance of teammates including proper follow up to assure satisfactory performance
  • Keep work area maintained appropriately to ensure a safe work environment for teammates and customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Fill in as a Market Manager when necessary
  • Unload trucks breakdown loads and stock product
  • Work with deli bakery department teammates to identify root causes of issues and inefficiencies
  • Constantly interact with teammates to ensure that all teammates understand Lowe's expectations
  • Constantly interact with customers
  • Adhere to all compliance of company policies programs procedures and guidelines
