Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- 1-2 years grocery retail experience in food service
- Knowledge of health department guidelines and food safety
- Ability to operate food service equipment
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work varied hours and days
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments
- Must be able to work in a team and take initiative
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in food service department processes and procedures
- Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus
- Must maintain the highest level of customer service at all times
- Ability to adapt to high volume retail and work in a cross-functional team environment
- Capacity to take initiative when problems arise
- Flexibility to adapt in various situations
- Advanced attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and have excellent organizational skills
- Ability to lead, support, and contribute to team goals
- Must be familiar with Health Department guidelines and regulations
- Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
- Skilled in operating food service equipment such as knives, slicers, scales, and ovens
- Capable of cutting and weighing various meats, salads, and cheeses
Job Duties
- Ensures cleanliness of deli/bakery cases, storage area, and work area for safety
- Stocks deli/bakery cases including product presentation, facing, filling, and organization
- Examines rotation of deli/bakery products and discards expired stock
- Assists customers with inquiries, purchases, and product selection including selling and cross-selling
- Receives, inspects, and logs products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
- Monitors point of purchase signs and ensures availability of recipe cards, product coupons, promotional material, and information
- Operates food service equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- Prepares various deli/bakery items using proper ingredients and cooking times
- Uses scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
- Participates in pre-inventory preparation including back stock and tag matching
- Maintains high product knowledge and preparation skills
- Walks department regularly to ensure organized, sanitary, and clean appearance
- Performs other duties as assigned
