MDBS operates 103 commissary locations on various US Military bases, serving active duty personnel, veterans, and their families. The Deli Bakery Associate plays a crucial role at MDBS by preparing and presenting bakery products that meet the high standards expected by military customers. This position requires hands-on experience in retail baking, knowledge of frozen dough products, and the ability to operate commercial ovens efficiently and safely. The associate is responsible for preparing, processing, packaging, and labeling bakery items, ensuring they maintain quality, freshness, and adherence to food safety standards. Additionally, associates must manage product rotation, removing items past their shelf life and keeping the bakery environment clean and sanitary.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills are vital, as associates work closely to maintain a positive atmosphere and assist other team members. The ability to work under pressure and remain composed during busy periods is important to meet the demands of a fast-paced deli and bakery department. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the stamina to stand and walk throughout entire shifts. The role also involves tolerating short periods in freezer environments. Job Duties

  • demonstrate the ability to utilize commercial ovens
  • prepare, process, package, and label bakery products
  • inspect bakery products for quality and freshness, rotate products on display and remove products with expired shelf life
  • maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer service, teamwork with positive communication, and assist other team members as needed
  • ensure proper sanitation of the department, equipment, and proper food handling/preparation
  • demonstrate the ability to work in fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations
