The role of the Deli Associate is integral to the bakery department's daily operations. This position involves assisting in the preparation and sale of deli products, ensuring that all items meet the company's stringent standards for freshness, quality, and availability. The Deli Associate works closely with customers, offering knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service that enhances the shopping experience and builds lasting customer relationships. Key responsibilities also include maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, adhering to proper food handling guidelines as regulated by agencies such as the USDA and DOA, and executing product recalls and withdrawals effectively and efficiently.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain the same
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
- Strong customer service skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills
- Ability to operate deli equipment according to company guidelines

- Ability to operate deli equipment such as slicers, ovens, scales, knives, box cutters, and pricing guns according to company guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Spanish language skills preferred
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience
Job Duties
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated
- Deliver daily conditions that meet company expectations for product availability, freshness, quality and value
- Offer product samples, answer product questions, and assist customers in finding or suggesting products
- Ensure customer requests and special orders are fulfilled
- Promote trust and respect among associates by collaborating and communicating
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
- Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and report discrepancies
- Review and inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
- Prepare, package, label, and display products for sale
- Utilize production planning tools to produce fresh products accurately
- Ensure safety and sanitation standards are maintained
- Adhere to all regulatory compliance requirements
- Execute product recalls and withdrawals timely
- Report safety risks, illegal activities, and ensure safety training compliance
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
