The Pastry Chef/Cake Decorator Apprentice program at Lunds & Byerlys is designed to develop skilled pastry professionals through hands-on training and personalized mentorship. Apprentices work closely with a Master Pastry Chef and an experienced cake decorator to learn the secrets of crafting sensational pastries and cakes that delight customers. The program provides exposure to various aspects of pastry and cake production, including bakery operations, decorating techniques, inventory management, and customer service. Apprentices also spend time at the production facility to gain insights from manufacturing decorators, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the craft. The role is a full-time position, with competitive wages, and operates within the store schedule of 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, seven days per week. Scheduling involves shifts that may vary within this timeframe. Whether the candidate has five years of experience or simply a passion for baking and decorating, the program is tailored to individual needs, aiming to equip apprentices with everything required to succeed as a Pastry Chef/Cake Decorator at Lunds & Byerlys. Job Duties
- Greeting and assisting customers
- learn how to produce and merchandise pastries, traditional cakes, special occasion cakes, and specialty items
- learn how to decorate items such as cookies, pies, and cakes

- assisting bakery staff with other miscellaneous tasks as needed
- maintaining cleanliness of the department
